I finally found my CVS receipt from last week...

I had some ECBs that had just expired (the 21st) and one of our CVSs in town takes them within a week or so.  I had no idea what was on sale or what was generating more ECBs and since I haven't been following CVS anyways, I just decided to spend them to get rid of them while still getting a good deal.  Here's what I got:

2 Soft Soap body was $9.98 for $4.79 ($.20 off and B1G1 FREE)
1 Dove candy bar was $.89 for -$1.11 (coupon for free candy bar or $2.00 off a bag, and it still took $2.00 off)
1 Dentyne gum $1.29

Subtotal -$.03 (yep, before tax they owed me money)
Tax $.49
Total $.46
Saved $12.19 (like 99% savings)

And I didn't take money from the grocery envelope or use my CVS card - I just dug $.46 in change from the bottom of my purse and paid with that. Woohoo!

And my CVS prescription cards have come in very handy again!

I've mentioned before that thanks to the "fill a new prescription and get a $25 gift card", I've been able to get some good deals at CVS.  There was the Almay make-up deal, make-up and body wash deal, the Tostitos deal and the Diet Dew deal.  These four trips have netted me lots of Diet Dew, Tostitos, make-up and body wash.  Today's trip?  More body wash!  And it only took me two transactions...

3 Dawn dish soap (Hand Renewal) was $5.97 for $1.00 ($1.99 each - $1.15 (12/$10 sale item) - $.50 P&G coupon for each)
3 Nivea "Touch of Shimmer" body wash (for women) was $17.97 for $2.97 ($5.99 each - $1.00 (sale price) - $4.00 coupon for each)

Total out of pocket (well, off the prescription gift card):  $5.19
Total saved:  $19.97
Received $5 ECB for purchasing $15 in Nivea products

Transaction #2
3 Nivea body wash (for men) was $14.97 for $2.97 ($4.99 each - $1.00 (sale price) - $3.00 coupon for each)
1 Nivea lip gloss (I wasn't sure the total above was going to make it for the "spend $15 get $5 ECB deal") was $2.99 (no sale, no coupon)

Total out of pocket (again used prescription gift card):  $2.01
Total saved:  $17.00
Received $5 ECB for purchasing $15 in Nivea products

So all said, I spent $7.20 on my gift card, left with $5 ECBs and purchased six body wash, three dish soap and a lip gloss.  I didn't make any money but really, I saved a lot - like just over 81% savings.  I love it.

Here's a recent CVS trip I took...

1 Almay eye shadow $7.99 (no sale even, ouch!)
used $2.00 manu coupon
used $3.00 ECBs

Final price: $3.34
And I used gift card from getting a new prescription - so no cash out of pocket for me really!

And I saved 62%.  Who doesn't love cheap make-up!  Now if I could just use it and like it...  I'm not sure I'm digging the colors so much.  Bummer.

More CVS sweetness...

Remember the $25 CVS gift card I mentioned here?  Every so often I hear of people who get a $25 gift card for filling a prescription at CVS.  Well, up until mid-November I had never had one cross my path.  Finally though, the CVS $25 gift card gods smiled down on me and sent me two seperate coupons to get a gift card with a new script - right at the same time as Brian's eye surgery (and lots of new meds).

I sat on those two gift cards for some time...finally breaking them out for the Pepsi deal a few weeks back.  I thought we'd do another Pepsi deal that night but ending up getting six bags of Tostitos the next week instead.

So - in those two trips (six 12pks of Diet Mt Dew and six bags of Tostitos) I used $22.23 of one card.  When I went into CVS today for some Gillette body wash and Almay cosmetics I still had $2.77 to spend.

In two seperate deals I purchased:
4 Gillette body wash was $19.96 for $8.00
1 Bonne Bell lip gloss (for my baby girl!) $2.99
Subtotal $10.99 and used $10 ECBs from Tostios deal to make new subtotal only $.99 - with tax, the total was $2.32 and I used the $2.77 left on the gift card to cover that toal and received $5 in ECBs for the Gillette deal.

1 Almay pressed powder was $12.99 for $8.99 (had two $2 off coupons - and technically $2 came off of each bottle but because the CVS sale was B1G1 free, I subtracted both coupons from this price)
1 Almay foundation was $12.99 for FREE (B1G1 free)
Subtotal was $8.99 and used the $5 ECBs from Gillette deal for a new subtotal of $3.99 - with tax, the total was $4.90 and I used the $.45 left on the first card and another $4.45 on the second card (leaving me $20.55 on the second gift card still).

So one $25 gift card plus $4.45 of a second card (along with sales, coupons and ECBs) has gotten me:
6 12pks Diet Mt Dew
6 bags Tostitos
4 Gillete body wash
1 Bonne Bell lip gloss
2 Almay foundation products

Full price (no sales, coupons or ECBs) for all items would have been $107.01 - savings of over 75%.

And THAT is why I love CVS.

CVS - lovin' the ECB deals!

Remember my first CVS deal in 10 months?  Yeah, the one where I earned $10 ECBs for buying Diet Mt Dew?  I talked to my mom the next day and she told me she had gone and bought six bags of chips for like $11.00 and I thought no way!
Guess what?  I bought six bags of Tositos (Scoops, Restaurant style and Lime) and only paid $11.00, which I used a gift card for so nothing out-of-pocket for me even!  I met some friends from college for dinner Saturday night and as I came into town (at 11:45pm!) I ran to CVS to grab this deal.  I checked out at 11:54 - just six minutes before the deals change to the next week's offereings. 

6 Totitos was was $23.94 for $11.00 AND earned another $10.00 in ECBs.  My savings was just over 50% for that trip. 

So in the last two weeks I've gotten six 12pks Diet Mt Dew and six bags of Tostitos for $22.23 and spent nothing OOP (thanks to a CVS gift card for a new script) and still have $2.77 left on the card!  Yay!

My first trip to CVS for a "deal" in over 10 months!

So, last March when Brian learned he was going to be laid off for a couple weeks (up to six weeks - we didn't know for sure how long) I put an immediate kiebash on the ECBs and deals at CVS.  We've got enough shampoo and toothpaste to last us for another few years (or so it seems) so staying away from CVS while he was laid off sounded like a good idea.  And it was - I just never went back. 
Well, I don't mean I NEVER went back to CVS.  That's where I fill our scripts (which I think helped in today's deal) and I think I might have stopped in once for a thermometer.  But really...I haven't done a deal at CVS for a long, long time.

Brian needed wanted some Diet Dew and Diet Code Red and CVS has a 6 12pk for $10 (after ECBs) thing going on.  So I took a $4 off $20 (that I just got in the mail today - talk about good luck!) and $5.50 in ECBs (printed on my receipt the last time I stopped in for a refill...I'm thinking because of all the scripts we've had filled lately) and a gift card for $25 (which we didn't pay for...we had a coupon for a free $25 card with a new or transferred script) and bought six 12pks of Diet Dew (no Diet Code Red in sight). 

Before my ExtraCare card my total was $34.87 and after the card, the $4 off $20 and the $5.50 in ECBs my total was down to $11.23 - saving between 67% and 68%.  I paid with the free $25 gift card and really spent nothing out of pocket.  I also got $10 back in ECBs.  So I guess in a roundabout way I only paid $1.12 for six 12pks of Diet Dew.  That's cheap! 

But I think Brian is going to take the $10ECBs and go back and get six more Diet Dews...  I don't have the $4 off $20 or the $5.50 in ECBs but the $10ECB I got is actually $.50 more than the other two and we'll still get another $10ECB for buying another six 12pks.

Kinda makes me remember why I love CVS so much...  ♥ ♥ ♥
